The Diplomatic Corpse

I am reading “The Diplomatic Corpse”. The book name sounds scary but it is not a thriller, instead, it is a female comedy, I think.

It is about Jeremy, the British Ambassador to Vienna, was found dead of heart attack. Her wife, Maggie grieved until she discovered he died in the bed with a beautiful Viennese blonde Mausie.

This was just the tip of an iceberg, from the diaries of her husband (this is extremely dangerous for unfaithful people to keep diaries); she discovered that his mistresses/ lovers were all over in Europe, in each country they stationed before. She decided to take revenge… in total hilarious and creative ways, with the great help of their Hungarian driver Zoltan.

Being a wife of diplomat, Maggie was instructed to behave in certain manner, make certain friends and dress certain outfits. Since she became a widow, ironically she started to feel good and she re-defined herself in her favorite ways. Like what French said, a woman feels good in her own skin!

The revenge journey brought Maggie to many cities – Vienna, Paris, London, Rome, Budapest. Maggie uncovered the real face of each place, and also herself. During the worst time in one’s life, she could still find something to amuse herself.

I still have 100 more pages to go. I could not wait to finish it as fast as I can.
